2017 April highlight – The Breck Foundation – #PlayVirtualLiveReal Online safety

The Caterham Round Table had their casual dinner night at Coulsdon Manor Hotel for a few drinks, good food and we invited the Breck Foundation to give us their insight to their #PlayVirtualLiveReal Online safety campaign.

As most of the Tablers have kids or young adults themselves the short talk proved very informative.  We were so happy to help them out to keep delivering the importance of Safety on Line.

Caterham RT – goes transparent with MeetUp

for Men Aged 18-45 in Caterham, we plan to add our events to the ‘MeetUp’ website – this will give you all some insight into what we do when we meet up.

We are not a Closed-society, and we always welcome new prospective members, extending the hospitality to nominating someone to pick you up, host you and drop you of at home afterward. Sorted!

Being the public schedule on ‘Meet Up, means you can accept an  invite to come along, meet us and make contact, or even give us a try and see if being a Caterham Round Table is for you.  No pressure.

We look forward to hearing form you.  We will post our events up soon.

Caterham Round Table funds new electric assistance chair

Caterham Round Table has recently funded an electric assistance chair for Hayes Primary School. This helps children suffering from physical issues to remain included in mainstream schooling. Even at a cost approaching £3000, this is money well spent when it helps to improve the well-being of youngsters!

The members of Caterham Round Table also raised about £6500 for St Catherine’s hospice two weeks ago at the Winter ball (which was a great night out!), and we’ve also just donated £1000 to the Dene Hospital as well!

All of this money has been raised through events such as the Fireworks, Beer Festival and Winter Ball, all of which are hard work, but great fun to be involved in.

Do you want to join us for our twice-monthly meeting (a drink over dinner), have some fun and raise money for our local community? Then fill in the contact page at www.caterhamtable.com

You won’t regret it, we promise!

Caterham RT European Tour 2014

Following on from the success of last years’ visit to us in Caterham by members of the Jever Round Table in Germany, they’ve (unwisely, perhaps) returned the compliment and asked us back to their patch.

Jever, for anyone who doesn’t know (Ed: & I didn’t), is situated near the coast of northern Germany, approximately 1.5 hours drive north east from the border with the Netherlands.

Absolutely fabulous darling…. But who are you?

The third Saturday in January once again saw around 250 masked revellers enjoying a fabulous night of glamour, gourmet food, excellent entertainment and dancing through ’til the wee small hours at our Masquerade Ball.

This year saw us change venues for the first time in quite a number of years and, to say we were a little concerned that the change may affect the dynamic of what has always been a very successful event, would be an understatement. We needn’t of worried. The Felbridge Hotel proved to be a superb venue with Chef and his brigade serving up one of the best meals we’ve ever had and the front of house team providing service that was second to none.

RT Dads ‘n Lads enjoy a few nights under the stars

August saw the annual ‘dads and kids’ Round Table camp in Chaldon. Tablers, friends and their children spent up to four days at camp. As well as various games the kids were entertained with archery, an air rifle range and a much needed trip to Tandridge pool! The campfire was kept going for four days, and each evening, after toasting marshmallows, was the scene of the most horrendous campfire singing you have ever heard!

Beer, beer and more beer at CRT’s newest event!

Caterham Round Table are delighted to announce that they will be hosting the town’s first independent real ale and cider festival, in November, later this year.

There’ll be around 40 real ales, ciders and perries all under one roof.

The event will take place over two days at Caterhams’ Soper Hall in Harestone Valley Road on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd November.

Tickets will be going on sale in October but, in the meantime, there are plenty of opportunities to either volunteer to help at the event or sponsor one or more of the firkins of ale that’ll be on offer. There are also a number of major sponsor opportunities to take advantage of. Check out the festival mini-site for more details.

Our Wednesday meeting, the Caterham Carnival and Waller Pain… A busy week ahead!

It was great to meet so many new people at last Sunday’s street party in Caterham High Street. The boat race was great fun, as always. Hopefully, some of you will come along to Wednesdays’ meeting (19:45, downstairs at the Surrey national Golf Club) when, amongst other things, we’ll be enjoying Andy Thomas telling us all about some of the latest conspiracy theories. Always a fascinating and thought provoking talk.
